The aboriginal people of the Utah Territory. The Uinta Valley Reservation was created by an Executive Order in 1861 and ratified by Congress in 1864 for the Utahs. The Utah bands that gathered on the Uinta Valley Reservation became known as the Uinta Band of Utahs. Their descendants continue to live on their reservation and aboriginal lands today.

“If the talk is for us to trade the land in order to get the presents, I do not want any blankets or any clothing. I would rather go without than to give up my title to the land I occupy.” Chief San Pitch Sah Peech Utahs 1865

Also known as the Affiliated Ute Citizens of Utah Indians, with a federally approved Constitution.
